How to use

Materials and Tools You'll Need:

  • Ceramic coating kit (includes the coating, applicator pads, and microfiber towels)
  • Isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher concentration)
  • Two or more clean buckets
  • Grit guards for buckets (optional)
  • High-quality microfiber towels
  • Hose and water source
  • pH-neutral boat wash soap
  • Soft-bristle brush or wash mitt
  • Clay bar kit (optional, for surface decontamination)
  • Polishing and buffing equipment (if needed)
  • Painter's tape (for masking off non-coating areas)
  • Applicator block (for foam applicator pads)
  • Personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection, and a respirator mask)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Boat:

Ensure your boat is clean and free of contaminants. You may want to start with a thorough washing using pH-neutral boat wash soap and a soft-bristle brush or wash mitt. Rinse thoroughly.

  2. Decontaminate the Surface (Optional):

If your boat's surfaces feel rough, you can use a clay bar kit to remove embedded contaminants. Lubricate the surface with soapy water and gently glide the clay bar over it. Rinse and dry the surface afterward.

  3. Mask Off Non-Coating Areas:

Use painter's tape to mask off any areas you don't want the ceramic coating to touch, such as rubber seals, plastics, and non-painted surfaces.

  4. Prepare Your Ceramic Coating:

Shake the ceramic coating bottle well to ensure it's properly mixed.

  5. Mix Isopropyl Alcohol:

In one of the buckets, mix a 1:1 ratio of isopropyl alcohol and water. This will be used as a panel wipe to ensure the surface is clean and free from oils or residue.

  6. Application:

Start with a small section of your boat. Dip the foam applicator pad onto the ceramic coating and apply it in straight lines or cross-hatch patterns, overlapping each pass slightly. Apply a thin, even coat.

  7. Level the Coating:

After applying the coating, immediately use a clean microfiber towel to level and evenly spread the coating. Use gentle, light pressure.

  8. Repeat for the Entire Boat:

Continue applying and leveling the ceramic coating in small sections, ensuring it doesn't dry on the surface. Work methodically until the entire boat is coated.

  9. Check for High Spots:

After the entire boat is coated, inspect for high spots or streaks. If you notice any, use a clean, dry microfiber towel to remove them immediately.

  10. Cure Time:

Allow the coating to cure at least 24 hours. Keep your boat in a clean, dry area during this time to prevent contamination.

  11. Final Inspection:

Once the coating has fully cured, inspect the boat for any imperfections and touch them up if necessary.

  12. Maintenance:

Regularly maintain your boat by rinsing off saltwater and cleaning with a pH-neutral boat wash soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or brushes that could damage the coating.
