How to use

Boat Gel Coat Crack Repair Instructions

  1. Preparation:
    • Clean the damaged area using a mild detergent and water. Allow it to dry completely.
    • Gather your gel coat repair kit, masking tape, sandpaper, disposable gloves, and mixing supplies.
  2. Masking and Safety:
    • Use masking tape to outline the crack, creating a defined area for repair.
    • Put on disposable gloves and ensure you're working in a well-ventilated area.
  3. Mix Gel Coat Repair Paste:
    • Follow the instructions on the repair kit to mix the gel coat repair paste and catalyst in the provided mixing container.
    • Stir thoroughly but gently to minimize air bubbles.
  4. Apply Repair Paste:
    • Using a plastic spreader or applicator tool, carefully apply the mixed repair paste to the crack, filling it evenly and slightly above the surface.
  5. Smooth and Level:
    • Use the spreader or applicator tool to smooth the repair paste, leveling it with the surrounding gel coat.
    • Remove excess paste to avoid sanding excess later.
  6. Curing and Sanding:
    • Allow the repair paste to cure according to the kit's instructions.
    • Once cured, use progressively finer grits of sandpaper to sand the repair until it's smooth and flush with the rest of the gel coat.
